Local Charity Spotlight: Bridge Between Animal Rescue

Bridge Between Animal Rescue

If you know us you know that animal welfare is a cause near and dear to our heart. It’s truly horrible to see the situation on the ground in Charleston and our surrounding cities when it comes to dogs and cats. Animal shelters are overwhelmed, many at double and triple capacity with little funding and help, Rescues are scrambling to save the most vulnerable including puppies, medical cases, and senior dogs, who will not make it in the shelter environment, and local resources are being put to the test. This is why for years I have volunteered at my local animal shelters, ironically starting right here in Charleston while I attended college. It was through one of our most badly hit shelters at Colleton County, that I learned of the incredible organization, Bridge Between Animal Rescue, and have since gone on to foster our first pup, Daisy, along with helping with temp foster needs as I have time.

Our first foster, sweet Daisy!

Bridge Between Animal Rescue was founded and began in January 2022.

THE MEANING BEHIND THE NAME: When the founder, Carly, was handing off one of her fosters to its new adopters, she was crying, because no matter how many times you foster, you can get attached. During this moment, a friend asked her, "Why do you keep doing this if it brings you to tears?" and Carly answered, "They are never meant to stay with me. I'm just meant to be the bridge between their past and their future".

Here are a few ways you can get involved:
